Work Breakdown Structure

WP6.1 YETS/Long Shutdowns
The WP 6.1 consists of the preparation and the follow-up of planning and schedule to be produced for each YETS, EYETS and Long Shutdown foreseen along the project. It requires that all activities collected and scheduled for the TS, YETS, EYETS and shutdowns are well implemented and properly programmed. This key activity for the project is managed in close collaboration with the Project Planning Officer. Several planning indicators are monitored and occurrence of potential unwanted events are regularly verified (milestones, critical paths, delays, co-activities and conflicts,…) to trigger early warning signs.

WP6.2 Integration Studies
The WP 6.2 consists of performing the integration studies of all the consolidated and upgraded systems within the North Area. It brings an essential support covering a wide domain of engineering and specialities: renovation of the fire safety system, consolidation of the general infrastructure, integration of the new power converters in the BAs, deployment of the gas distribution system and the consolidation of the user areas. It leads to the production of 3D models of the NA facility and associated 2D layouts. To gather necessary information, a periodical integration meeting (ICEA - Integration Committee for Experimental Areas) is organized with a representative of the different work packages. All the activities and deliverables of the integration work package are under the responsibility of the BE-EA group.

WP6.3 Configuration and Quality Management
Within the NACONS Project, Work Package (WP 6.3) Configuration and Quality Management focuses on implementing Quality Management (QM) practices and Configuration Management strategies for the North Area Beamlines. Configuration Management has been a pivotal strategy at CERN, aiming to provide a comprehensive snapshot of beamline statuses at any given time. Quality Management, conducted by the Quality Office under WP 6.3, incorporates both quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes to ensure service and product delivery meets specified requirements. The Quality Office's mission includes drafting the Quality Assurance Plan (EDMS 2733462) and supporting project members in its implementation.

WP6.4 Installation
The WP 6.4 consists of a set of very practical aspects to prepare work sites, to organize visits and electrical consignations. It comprises the supervision of the work sites and to coordinate the cabling & de-cabling activities. The Installation work package entails the logistics through the necessary transport and handling activities. WP description concerning de-cabling activities are available in EDMS.

WP6.5 Survey and Alignment
The WP 6.5 consists of the consolidation of the beamlines alignment, the synchronisation of the beamlines definition between the MAD-X sequences and the survey database. This WP comprises a study of a solution for a more frequent, efficient, and faster measurements of splitters, targets & instrumentations. It should as well define a metrology & fiducialisation of new beam line components that will come with the consolidation project. Due some actual limitations, it is expected to densify the geodetic network installation in TDC2/TCC2 and EHN1. A study of the network stability along the NA is also accounted to identify zones of movements.

WP6.6 Comissioning
The WP 6.6 consists of organizing all the levels of commissioning, from the individual system test (IST) to a more global scheme where the full functionality and safety of the NA facility must be checked and validated. The IST process can rely on the dedicated online check-list tool (checklist.cern.ch) for a close follow-up to ensure the readiness of individual equipment prior to start the more global hardware commissioning. Depending on the scale of commissioning, the process might involve several WP leaders and WC coordinators.
