North Area Infrastructure
The surface in CERN’s North Area that is already renovated and going to renovated covers about 60 000 m2 above and below ground.
The underground structures connect the SPS proton beam with the experimental halls and also contain the targets, where the secondary and tertiary beams are produced. This whole complex covers 16620 m2.
